Movie Horses of the Bluegrass at Double Dan Horsemanship
This tour offers a one-of-a-kind experience with a behind the scenes look at what goes into training horses for film, television and entertainment. Featuring horses of various sizes and breeds this tour is best for guests wanting to get up close and personal and learn about the training of horses with careers in the limelight.
WHAT YOU'LL SEE: You’ll meet a variety of horses from ponies to Percherons, off-track Thoroughbreds to World Equestrian Games competitors, horses from Spain and Australia that have performed in and worked on different shows, ads and campaigns.
BEST FOR: All ages + kid friendly. Curious, casual and committed horse fans welcome!
ON THE TOUR: You will be walking and standing as well as have access to chairs during the demo included in this experience.
Your tour will begin in the training barn, where you'll learn about the history of this family-owned farm, the mission of Double Dan Horsemanship, and the foundational methods used to prepare horses for high-level performance and entertainment work. You'll gain insight into how horses are selected, trained, and conditioned for careers in both competition and the spotlight.
From there, you'll head to the Pavilion, where you can sit back, relax and enjoy a live training demonstration followed by an open Q&A session.
Next, you'll explore several key training areas on the farm—including the Liberty Chamber, the padded indoor round pen, and the outdoor round pen—each designed to serve a specific role in the training process.
The tour concludes with a guided walk through the performance horse barn, where you'll meet elite equine athletes and hear the stories behind their accomplishments on the stage, screen, and in the arena
