Dive into the world of Thoroughbred retraining at Second Stride, located just outside of Louisville, the home of the Kentucky Derby. This nonprofit organization provides Thoroughbreds with rehabilitation and training for their next stage of life, whether they are a racehorse coming off of the track, a broodmare preparing for a new career or a Thoroughbred who never made it to the races. While on this tour, guests will learn about the process of retraining a Thoroughbred for a new career and the many ways that the Second Stride team prepares them to be quality riding or companion horses. You might even see some horses being trained under saddle during your visit! Plus, meet three horses who serve as ambassadors for the sport of Thoroughbred racing: Triple Crown contestant General A Rod, million dollar earner Hawaakom, and Churchill Downs Racing Club's star runner, Warrior's Club.
