ON THE TOUR You will be walking & standing throughout the tour
Step inside the world of second chances with this behind-the-scenes tour of the Kentucky Equine Adoption Center, which offers a glimpse into the real, everyday work of equine rescue, rehabilitation and adoption.
The tour begins in the office, where we give an overview of the farm, then we’ll walk around the barn and visit horses in the fields and hear their stories. Many of these horses arrive in need of help, healing and hope. These equines find safety, compassionate care and the opportunity to begin again with the team at the Kentucky Equine Adoption Center.
Throughout this tour, guests will meet horses at every stage of rehabilitation and training, from those just beginning to heal, to those rediscovering their confidence and preparing for a loving forever home. Get up close and personal with these adoptable horses and learn what it takes to run a working equine rescue.
You may even see a demonstration of training in the arena or round pen, or have the chance to see a veterinarian or farrier at work as this dedicated team provides the care that these horses need.
This tour will last approximately one hour, and includes walking outdoors on various types of surfaces. Golf cart transportation is available by request for guests who need assistance walking around the farm. Please make a note on your booking to let us know if your group would like to utilize the golf cart transportation during your visit.
ABOUT THE KENTUCKY EQUINE ADOPTION CENTER
The Kentucky Equine Adoption Center occupies 72 acres as a safe haven for all breeds of equines in transition to their forever home. The Center manages approximately 50 horses at any given time, all available for adoption, in varying stages of rehabilitation and retraining. Some come here from abuse or neglect situations, and many have been surrendered by kind owners who recognize that their circumstances prevent them from caring properly for their horse(s). The Kentucky Equine Adoption Center spends time with each individual horse to train and heal them physically, mentally, and emotionally to be ready for a good life in a forever home, serving Kentucky’s neediest horses for twenty years.
The Kentucky Equine Adoption Center has been featured on Good Morning America, and was named the Equine Rescue of the Year by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. The Center is a real, working rescue farm where healing happens every day, progress comes one small step at a time, and no two horses have the same story.
