This tour begins with a history of the farm, before you head outside to the stallion complex, home to stars such as Flightline, Candy Ride and more. You will learn about the ins and outs of an elite Thoroughbred breeding operation, and find out more about the pedigree, race record and progeny of the Lane’s End Stallions. A handful of stallions will be shown for you, before the tour walks through each of the stallion barns and the equine cemetery.

If you’re interested in visiting the mares, foals and yearlings of Lane’s End Farm, we recommend booking the Lane’s End Shuttle Experience as well. This tour pairs perfectly with the stallion tour to give a well-rounded view of Kentucky’s Thoroughbred industry, and is offered at 11:30 a.m. each day that stallion tours are offered. Come visit the stallion complex at Jonabell Farm in Lexington, Kentucky, and learn all about the thoroughbred breeding business! Jonabell is the American headquarters for the Godolphin thoroughbred breeding and racing operation and is the home of the Darley stallions in America.

The tour begins at the farm office where you will visit the trophy room and learn about the history of Jonabell as well as the global scope of HH Sheikh Mohammed’s international thoroughbred operations. The tour will then head outside for a walking tour of the stallion complex to see the champion stallions in their paddocks (please wear comfortable shoes!). You will learn about the stallions’ race careers, progeny and daily routines while viewing the horses enjoying their time outside. The tour will also walk through the breeding shed and visit the gravesite of 1978 Triple Crown winner Affirmed.

Among the stallions that guests may see on a visit to Jonabell Farm are two-time Breeders’ Cup winner and Horse of the Year Cody’s Wish, Kentucky Derby winners Nyquist and Street Sense, Belmont Stakes winner Essential Quality, multiple G1 winners Frosted and Maxfield,perennial leading sire Medaglia d’Oro, and more.

We are unable to allow petting or feeding of the stallions during the tour.

ABOUT HALLWAY FEEDS

Robert ‘Bob’ Hall Jr. grew up raising cattle, harvesting grain and tending family land in Scott County, Kentucky. It was in those fields that his legacy was sown. After graduating from the University of Kentucky in 1953, Mr. Bob was already an experienced agriculturalist. He honed his expertise on cattle farms in Kentucky and New York. So when a local feed mill came up for sale in 1964, Mr. Bob and his wife, Mrs. Bonnie Hall, saw an opportunity and purchased the business. For nearly thirty years, Farmers Feed Mill supplied commodity feedstuffs to the area’s dairy and beef cattle farms. Regardless of their competitive discipline and lifestyle, all horses deserve the same world-class equine veterinary care. Centrally located in the heart of Horse Country, the practices’ state-of-the-art facility sits on over 110 acres and is directly across from the Kentucky Horse Park. The walking tour, lasting an hour and a half long, guides you through Hagyard’s history and the day-to-day operations of a fully functioning equine hospital including the Davidson Surgery Center and McGee Medicine Center.

Due to the potential graphic and sensitive nature of live surgery and medical procedures, this tour is limited to guests aged 10 years and older. This limitation is in place to protect staff, horses and guests.

This is a one-mile walking tour of the Hagyard campus. Please wear appropriate footwear for walking long stretches of time. As an operating veterinary hospital. Emergency situations may arise that limit areas of the hospital that can be seen.

Home of the great Tapit, Gainesway’s grounds and architecture add to this stallion-focused tour. This tour may not be appropriate for guests of all ages. Gainesway’s historic 1, 500-acre property is home to broodmare, foal, and yearling divisions, a roster of eight stallions, and one of the industry’s leading sales consignments.

Guests will visit Gainesway’s stallion complex. Please note that the nursery complex is not included on tours.

This tour will take you through Gainesway’s stallion complex. You will be able to meet some of their champion stallion roster. The star of the stallion barn is three-time champion sire Tapit, who has sired Grade 1 winners such as Frosted, Stardom Bound, Untapable, Hansen, Tapizar, and Tonalist. Gainesway’s stallion roster also includes Olympiad, Afleet Alex, Spun to Run, Raging Bull (FR), McKinzie, Karakontie, Drain the Clock, Tapwrit and Seize the Grey.

You’ll gain insight into how horses are selected, trained, and conditioned for careers in both competition and the spotlight.

From there, you’ll head to the Pavilion, where you can sit back, relax and enjoy a live training demonstration followed by an open Q&A session.

Next, you’ll explore several key training areas on the farm—including the Liberty Chamber, the padded indoor round pen, and the outdoor round pen—each designed to serve a specific role in the training process.

Come and join us for a behind the scenes look at one of Central Kentucky’s leading thoroughbred nurseries.

You will begin your visit with a stop at the Denali cabin. A brief history of the farm will be given, explaining how a boy from suburban New Jersey fell in love with horses, choosing the racetrack over college, and eventually bringing him to Kentucky.

The tour will move to the foaling barn area to visit mares and their foals (in the spring and early summer, and just mares in the late summer, fall and winter). You will learn about the care and management of broodmares and their babies and have the opportunity to pose for pictures and feed the mares peppermints. This part of the tour can be done by walking or driving, depending on the wishes of the guests.

After ample time with the horses, the tour will move to the farm office to learn about the sales and see memorabilia from many of Denali Stud’s special horses, whether they were stars on the track or in the auction ring.

As a young boy, Craig Bandoroff lived in Cherry Hill, NJ very close to the Garden State Racetrack. He developed a passion for racing and began working summers on the track as a groom. In high school he participated in a vocational program school day, in which he worked at the track in the morning and attended honors classes in the afternoon.

Upon graduation, he chose the track over college, and worked full time as a groom, exercise rider and eventually an apprentice jockey for long time New Jersey trainer, Marty Fallon. In December of 1974, Craig was seriously injured in a track spill, ending his riding career. He spent nearly a year in a rehabilitation hospital and upon leaving, he enrolled in the University of Virginia (1977-78) and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1981 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Economics and Animal Science. In 1990 Craig founded Denali Stud alongside his wife, Holly.

On this guided tour of Coolmore at Ashford Stud, you will learn about the daily life of a working Thoroughbred stallion operation, as well as the history of Ashford Stud and the many famous horses that have called the property home.

The tour of Ashford Stud will begin in the Visitor’s Center, where you’ll see videos of the historic performances by Coolmore stallions and view memorabilia from some of the most prestigious races in the world.

You will then venture outside to the stallion complex, where a selection of Coolmore stallions will be shown and the tour guide will provide information on their race record, pedigree, progeny and more.

Afterwards, you will walk through some of the stallion barns and take a look at the breeding shed.

This is an active tour that consists of walking and standing throughout the entire hour of the experience.

The Secretariat Center is the Gold Standard for Thoroughbred retraining, and rehoming over 800 horses since 2004.

The Secretariat Center is a nonprofit 501c3 organization dedicated to ensuring a second career for Thoroughbreds by combining a passion for horses, meaningful partnerships, and the belief that all equines deserve care, kindness and a purpose beyond the racetrack. The Secretariat Center’s mission is to prepare off-track Thoroughbreds for happy, healthy, and successful post-track careers by rehabilitating and giving them a broad-based foundation of skills to ensure a harmonious match with their adopters. BraveHearts Equine Center is located in Paris, Kentucky. Owners David and Ruth Waronker founded the nonprofit after realizing there was a need for more support systems for draft horses from abuse, slaughter, and neglect. Visit the birthplace of 2025 Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty – the beautiful Gainsborough Farm in Versailles, Kentucky! Gainsborough is a nursery division of Godolphin, the international thoroughbred breeding and racing operation founded by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai.

To begin the tour, you will learn about the history of Gainsborough Farm as well as the global scope of HH Sheikh Mohammed’s international thoroughbred operations. From there you will climb aboard an electric shuttle for a scenic drive through the farm with stops along the way to meet our broodmares and learn about their racing and breeding careers. These mares love to pose for photos and meet new people! Depending on the time of year, you will also get to meet new foals, weanlings, and/or yearlings.

Among the mares that guests may see on a visit to Gainsborough Farm are Breeders’ Cup champions ROUND POND and ASHADO, as well as DANCE CARD (dam of Cody’s Wish), DELIGHTFUL QUALITY (dam of Essential Quality) and VELVETY (dam of Maxfield). Spendthrift Farm welcomes you to immerse yourself in the historical culture of thoroughbred breeding on this tour of the stallion complex.

This one-hour tram ride will take you around the historic 1200-acre Spendthrift Farm where you will learn about the farm’s past while meeting the farm’s future. The tour begins at the Spendthrift office, which was once our founder’s home, then you will hop on ‘Speedthrift’, the Spendthrift Farm shuttle, and pass by the iconic stallion complex and ‘Nashua Motel’, then travel onto the backside of Spendthrift to visit with our broodmares and foals! Breeders’ Cup Classic champion White Abbario is one of the many greats bred and raised at Spendthrift Farm, and you never know what future champion you will meet on this tour.

On this tour, the tram will make frequent stops where you will be able to be hands-on with the mares and foals, feeding treats and creating unforgettable moments. Outside treats are not allowed.

Experience a morning of training at storied Pin Oak Stud in the heart of Horse Country, with stops at the stallion barn, training track, and rehabilitation barn.

This tour begins at the Pin Oak Stud stallion barn, where you will learn about the history of Pin Oak Stud, from its founding by the beloved Josephine Abercrombie to its current ownership by Jim and Dana Bernhard, who seek to honor the quality and tradition of Pin Oak while leading the operation into a new era. You’ll have a chance to meet multiple graded stakes winning stallion Scalding, and the Friesian horses owned by the Bernhard family (when available).

From there, the group will make a stop in the office to view trophies and racing memorabilia before walking to the training barn, where you will get a behind-the-scenes look at the training and rehabilitation barns and watch horses exercise on the training track. Your tour guide will provide insight on the training process and various technologies used in the rehabilitation barn, as well as the unique nature of Pin Oak’s training facilities.

This tour requires some walking over uneven terrain between each of the barns you will be visiting and the training track. Be sure to wear footwear and clothing that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty, as this is a horse farm and there may be mud, etc!

The Airdrie Stud tour begins at the Stallion Barn, home to 2023 Kentucky Derby winner MAGE, leading sires GIRVIN, UPSTART, CAIRO PRINCE and more. We’ll discuss what makes a successful sire and give insight into how the commercial market influences the breed. From there, you caravan in your vehicle to view some of Airdrie’s mares and foals, with the potential opportunity to get up close and personal with their broodmare band.

You will be outdoors during the tour, so be sure to wear appropriate shoes and comfortable clothing that suits the weather forecast!

ABOUT AIRDRIE

Airdrie Stud, started by Brereton C. and Libby Jones, began in 1972 with a leased parcel of land and has grown to consist of more than 2,500 acres primarily on Old Frankfort Pike. The canopied road bordered by original rock walls takes you back in time and is where much of the original Woodburn Stud was located. Woodburn Stud was home of the immortal Lexington during his 16-year tenure as America’s leading sire in the last century. Woodburn, also the home of four 19th century Kentucky Derby winners, it is in fact considered the birthplace of Kentucky’s Thoroughbred industry. A renewed interest in this piece of property and the historical significance of it has been brought to light by Pulitzer prize winning author Geraldine Brooks and her bestselling, Horse: A Novel as well as the nonfiction book by author Kim Wickens, Lexington: The Extraordinary Life and Turbulent Times of America’s Legendary Racehorse.

Airdrie stands eleven stallions and owns approximately 150 mares. You will view a selection of the Spendthrift Farm stallions, while learning about their race record, pedigree and progeny, before walking through the rest of the stallion barn to see the many champions that call Spendthrift home.

Throughout the tour, you will learn about Spendthrift’s colorful founder, the larger than life Leslie Combs, who was known for both entertaining celebrity guests and revolutionizing the thoroughbred industry. You will also hear more on industry innovator B. Wayne Hughes, who has not only revitalized Spendthrift Farm but invested in the sport of horse racing for years to come.
