ABOUT THE KENTUCKY EQUINE ADOPTION CENTER

Nestled on 72 beautiful acres in the heart of the Bluegrass, the Kentucky Equine Adoption Center is a safe haven for horses of all breeds in transition to their forever homes. We care for around 50 horses at any given time, each one on a unique journey of rehabilitation, retraining, and recovery. Some have come from neglect, others have been lovingly surrendered by owners facing hardship—but all are given a second chance at a happy, healthy life.

ON THE TOUR You will be walking and standing for the duration of this experience, covering multiple barns and the sales pavilion over varied terrain. Comfortable shoes recommended.

Your evening begins at Barn 2 on the Fasig-Tipton Sales Grounds in Lexington, where you’ll meet your Taylor Made guide and get an introduction to how Thoroughbreds are marketed and sold on one of the industry’s biggest nights.

From there, you’ll tour the showing barns to watch horses being presented to prospective buyers and learn what agents and consignors look for in top-quality mares and racing prospects. You’ll see the intensity and precision that goes into every showing—from last-minute touch-ups to pedigree updates and buyer inspections.

Then, for the highlight of the evening, you’ll follow one of Taylor Made’s horses from the barn all the way to the ring. You’ll stand just feet away as the horse enters the walking ring for final inspections, then step into the iconic Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion to watch it sell live—an unforgettable, high-energy moment filled with excitement, strategy, and spectacle.

As bids soar and the gavel falls, you’ll witness the business side of the sport at its very best—where champions are bought, sold, and futures are made.

ABOUT TAYLOR MADE FARM

Taylor Made Farm was established in 1976 by Duncan Taylor on a small piece of land in Nicholasville, Kentucky. In the early 1980s, Taylor Made pioneered the consignment model at public auction—at a time when most breeders sold their own horses directly. ABOUT WINSTAR FARM

WinStar was founded on a dream in 2000 by friends and business partners, Kenny Troutt and Bill Casner. What started as a 400-acre property – the former Prestonwood Farm – has grown to over 2,500 acres and is home to nearly 700 horses. WinStar started with just 4 stallions, one of which happened to be a young, unproven Distorted Humor who went on to sire 4 champions.

The group will hop aboard the Lane’s End Farm shuttle to visit with Zenyatta, either at her field or in the barn, and learn about her current lifestyle as well as reminisce on her racing career. You will have the opportunity to celebrate Zenyatta’s career with other fans of the great mare, while enjoying the picturesque scenery of Lane’s End Farm.

Resolute Racing is excited to invite fans to a special free public event celebrating one of the most remarkable mares in modern racing, PUCA (Big Brown), the 2024 Broodmare of the Year.

Guests will have the rare opportunity to meet Puca alongside her 2025 filly—a full sister to Kentucky Derby winner Mage, Belmont Stakes winner Dornoch, and Pennsylvania Derby winner Baeza. This outstanding young filly represents the next chapter in a family that has already rewritten racing history.

Fans will also be introduced to Puca’s 2024 colt, another full brother to Mage, Dornoch, and Baeza—making this an unprecedented chance to see two siblings from racing’s most influential current cross, side by side with their legendary dam. Resolute and Puca Merchandise will be available!

Individuals are welcome to reserve up to four total tickets for this experience. To allow for as many guests as possible to attend, any duplicate bookings are not permitted. In the event that an individual has reserved more than four tickets, they will be contacted by Horse Country to cancel any tickets above the allotted four.

ABOUT RESOLUTE RACING

Established in 2023, Resolute Racing has rapidly expanded into a comprehensive breeding and racing operation. Founder, John Stewart, set down roots for his operation in Midway, KY where he purchased the former Shadayid Stud in December of 2023. This property spans 850 acres and sits on both sides of Leestown Road. Resolute runs its main broodmare and nursery on the south side of the property where it backs up to the Elkhorn, while the north side cares for its yearlings and racing layups. 

Their founder, John Stewart, is a Lexington home-bred and has been an avid fan of horse racing for many years, enjoying the races at Keeneland every Spring and Fall. He purchased his very first horse in the fall of 2022 at the well-known Keeneland September Yearling Sale. This one horse, Shiloh’s Mistress, went on to be Resolute Racing’s very first win at the beginning of 2023, thus kicking off our stable that has grown immensely and nailed down his first G1 victory in 2024 with Didia in the G1 New York Stakes run at Saratoga Racecourse.

Enjoy a comfortable yet elegant setting while learning about Kentucky’s equine history at Darby Dan Farm, including its predecessor farm, Colonel E. R. Bradley’s Idle Hour, which was one of the early 20th century’s most impactful contributors to the sport of horse racing.   Darby Dan represents the history of Thoroughbred racing and breeding in America like few other farms.  

This tour begins in the historic manor home, where you’ll learn about the storied past of Darby Dan Farm and the many champion racehorses who were raised on this land.

From there, the tour varies seasonally.

In spring and early summer, you’ll have the chance to get up close and personal to mares & foals. These youngsters and their mommas are eager to meet new people and pose for photos! While enjoying your time with the horses, you’ll learn more about how horses are bred and raised at Darby Dan and farms across the Bluegrass.

In late summer and fall, you’ll visit to the stallion division where a handful of stallions will be shown for your group. You’ll learn about the various stages of a stud career and meet horses who have excelled on the racetrack and in the breeding shed. Darby Dan Farm’s current roster includes perennial leading sire Dialed In, Kentucky Derby winner Country House, and a number of other talented racehorses.

The tour concludes in the trophy room, a near museum of horse racing, with memorabilia from some of the sport’s biggest events. Along the way, you’ll see views captured in the movie Secretariat, which filmed a number of scenes at Darby Dan Farm (and around Lexington!).

ABOUT DARBY DAN FARM

Not only is Darby Dan Farm the home of leading stallions Dialed In and Flameaway, it was a filming location for Disney’s major motion picture Secretariat! Visitors to Darby Dan will get a behind-the-scenes look at the operations of a working Thoroughbred farm. Darby Dan is truly a historic location, and the original manor house has been restored to include a trophy room with memorabilia from the farm’s storied past. Visit the historic Manor House, trophy room and Colonel E. R. Bradley’s office before venturing to see the stallions or mares and foals living on the property.

ABOUT BRAVEHEARTS EQUINE CENTER

BraveHearts Equine Center is located in Paris, Kentucky. Owners David and Ruth Waronker founded the nonprofit after realizing there was a need for more support systems for draft horses from abuse, slaughter, and neglect. We are primarily a draft horse rescue, the largest in the state. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome younger equines and provide a sanctuary for the senior animals or those who may need specialized care for the rest of their lives.

By request, your small group of 10 or less can have a private tour experience at Mill Ridge Farm. This is your experience – please let us know your preferences and how we can tailor an intimate and private tour of this storied farm. This relaxed setting allows for up-close-and-personal experiences with the horses, as well as breath-taking views of the land that the Bluegrass has come to be famous for. Get to know the stories of the Bell family; ask questions; pet the resident horses and take photos of them.

The tour kicks off in the breeding shed where you will gain an understanding of why this land is so uniquely suited for the Thoroughbred and learn the history of the Headley family and their involvement in the industry.

From there, you will hop in your vehicles and follow the tour guide around the farm in a caravan. The group will then stop at different locations around the farm to interact with horses of varying ages. You’ll be able to get up close and personal with friendly equine residents, and even feed them carrots!

The tour ends back in the breeding shed with our resident stallions, OSCAR PERFORMANCE, Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf winner with racetrack earnings over $2.3 million and who currently holds the world record for the fastest mile on the turf, ALOHA WEST, Breeders’ Cup Sprint winner with earnings on the racetrack over $1.5 million, and our newest stallion, CASA CREED, four-time Grade 1 winner and earner of $2.6 million!

ABOUT MILL RIDGE FARM

Visit us at Mill Ridge Farm, near iconic Keeneland Racetrack, and experience a farm renowned for raising and selling first class Thoroughbreds. Owner Alice Headley Chandler’s father, Hal Price Headley, was the main force in the founding of Keeneland, and the first President of what is considered one of the greatest racetracks in the world.

After his death in a Keeneland barn in 1962, Alice inherited the land that would become Mill Ridge Farm. Just six years later she became the first woman to breed an Epsom Derby winner in SIR IVOR. You will be greeted at the Barn at Chestnut Hall where you will learn about the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) and the Thoroughbred Aftercare industry that cares for these majestic equine athletes after their racing careers end.

The TRF tour guide will lead you on a walking tour to visit three pastures around the farm where you will have the opportunity to interact with the horses (who love having their photos taken!) and experience the tranquility of “horses being horses”.

The tour will conclude on the porch of the historic farmhouse at Chestnut Hall, with a phenomenal view overlooking the horses and inspiring you to learn more, and hopefully to visit again soon!

Each horse at Chestnut Hall is an Ambassador for the 500 horses cared for by TRF and each horse has a story to tell!

This nursery tour offers the opportunity to become acquainted with superstar broodmares like Puca, Goodnight Olive, Didia and more, along with the next generation of racing’s champions!

Your time at Resolute Racing will begin at the visitors center, before you will be guided through the winding roads of the farm to meet many of the prominent horses living on the property. You’ll stop by many of the barns, and in the spring you’ll be treated with the experience of meeting young foals destined for greatness in the years to come! Just a few of the famed mares residing at Resolute Racing… Goodnight Olive (2x Eclipse Champion and Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint Winner), Puca (dam of Kentucky Derby winner Mage and Belmont Stakes winner Dornoch), Queen Caroline (dam of Eclipse Champion and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Forte), Didia (Resolute Racing’s first G1 winner) and “Preaky” (the 2024 son of Good Magic x Puca who is a full brother to Mage and Dornoch).

The tour will then continue to the retirees and rescue barn. While the horses in this barn may not have garnered much attention on the racetrack, they are important all the same and Resolute Racing is proud to offer a safe landing for these retired athletes. Resolute is an aggressive advocate for aftercare and responsible horse ownership in Thoroughbreds, regularly working to rescue off the track Thoroughbreds from at-risk situations, offering them a safe haven to rest and recuperate. You’ll have the chance to meet some of these special horses, plus, you’ll get to give them treats and pets!

In September and early October of 2025, this tour will also include a visit to the yearling division of Resolute Racing. This special addition will allow guests to see some of Resolute’s top yearlings, including ’24 Puca (sibling of Kentucky Derby winner Mage and Belmont Stakes winner Dornoch). ’24 Lady Kate (a $3 million purchase at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga) and ’24 Queen Caroline (sibling of Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Forte).

ABOUT RESOLUTE RACING

Established in 2023, Resolute Racing has rapidly expanded into a comprehensive breeding and racing operation. Founder, John Stewart, set down roots for his operation in Midway, KY where he purchased the former Shadayid Stud in December of 2023. This property spans 850 acres and sits on both sides of Leestown Road. Resolute runs its main broodmare and nursery on the south side of the property where it backs up to the Elkhorn, while the north side cares for its yearlings and racing layups. 

Their founder, John Stewart, is a Lexington home-bred and has been an avid fan of horse racing for many years, enjoying the races at Keeneland every Spring and Fall. He purchased his very first horse in the fall of 2022 at the well-known Keeneland September Yearling Sale. This one horse, Shiloh’s Mistress, went on to be Resolute Racing’s very first win at the beginning of 2023, thus kicking off our stable that has grown immensely and nailed down his first G1 victory in 2024 with Didia in the G1 New York Stakes run at Saratoga Racecourse.

Dive into the world of Thoroughbred retraining at Second Stride, located just outside of Louisville, the home of the Kentucky Derby. This nonprofit organization provides Thoroughbreds with rehabilitation and training for their next stage of life, whether they are a racehorse coming off of the track, a broodmare preparing for a new career or a Thoroughbred who never made it to the races.

While on this tour, guests will learn about the process of retraining a Thoroughbred for a new career and the many ways that the Second Stride team prepares them to be quality riding or companion horses. You might even see some horses being trained under saddle during your visit! Plus, meet three horses who serve as ambassadors for the sport of Thoroughbred racing: Triple Crown contestant General A Rod, million dollar earner Hawaakom, and Churchill Downs Racing Club’s star runner, Warrior’s Club.

Located on a historic breeding farm not far from Churchill Downs, Second Stride is a nonprofit transition program providing rehabilitation, training and adoptions for Thoroughbreds at every stage of life — race horses needing a change of pace, broodmares looking for a third career, and youngsters not even one year old. The Second Stride program was designed to champion the Thoroughbred horses bred, raised and raced in our wonderful Bluegrass state of Kentucky. Since its inception in 2005, the program has helped over 1,500 retired Thoroughbreds find new homes.

Second Stride champions the Thoroughbred breed and delights in welcoming guests to interact with the horses as they learn about the path and future of Thoroughbreds beyond racing. Up close and personal interactions with the horses allow for visitors to fall in love with the Thoroughbred.

Visit historic Runnymede Farm, home of the Clay family and recognized as the oldest continuously owned Thoroughbred farm in Kentucky, in the heart of Paris and Bourbon County.

The tour of Runnymede Farm takes you through the early stages of the life of a Thoroughbred, beginning in the foaling barn where the young horses take their first steps. You will then head to other barns to see mares, older foals or weanlings, depending on the time of year. Throughout the tour, you’ll learn about the many champions that were born and raised at the farm, including 2024 Belmont Stakes and Haskell Winner DORNOCH, 2023 Kentucky Derby winner MAGE and turf star LADY ELI, as well as the ins and outs of running a Thoroughbred nursery farm.

Along the tour, you will also see historic buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries that dot the land where three Kentucky Derby winners were raised, and learn about the history of Runnymede Farm and its connections to the early days of Kentucky’s statehood.

ABOUT RUNNYMEDE FARM

Ever since Runnymede was founded in 1867, the farm has been a vital part of the Thoroughbred industry. The farm was originally established on family property by Colonel Ezekiel Clay, whose father was a member of the United States Congress and a breeder of Thoroughbreds and champion cattle.

The nursery holds the distinct honor of being the oldest continuously operated Thoroughbred breeding farm in Kentucky, according to the Daughters of the American Revolution. Runnymede is now the domain of Catesby W. Clay, a grandson of Col. Clay and one of the most respected breeders in the business. Although the breeding, raising and selling of horses has changed markedly in the nearly 150 years since the farm was founded, Runnymede’s commitment to quality has never wavered. Even today, Catesby Clay and his son, Runnymede President Brutus J. Clay III, remain true to the beliefs and principles utilized by generations of their family in hopes of breeding and raising the best horses possible.

Home of SACRE COEUR, mother of LADY ELI, Grade I winner of the 2014 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. Since 2007, Runnymede has also bred and raised four other horses that have hit the board in Breeders’ Cup races. Other notable champions include bred and raised MAGE (Kentucky Derby), DORNOCH (Belmont Stakes), BEN BRUSH (Kentucky Derby) and HANOVER (Belmont Stakes by 15 lengths), two stallions found in the pedigree of nearly every Classic winner in the last 50 years. Runnymede continues to write new chapters worthy of its storied past.
