A lot of work goes into taking care of horses, from proper nutrition to veterinary care and so much more! Follow this itinerary to learn about the importance of equine veterinary care and nutrition, then get an inside look at the process of breeding and raising Thoroughbreds.
This itinerary is recommended for guests visiting on May 2, 3, or 6.

Hagyard Equine Medical Institute
10:30am – 12pm | Lexington, KY
Get a behind-the-scenes look into equine veterinary medicine, highlighting care & commitment for the horse at one of the oldest and largest equine hospitals in the world. Guests will be guided through this fully functioning equine hospital, and may see surgery, x-rays or a variety of other veterinary procedures taking place. A must see for horse lovers!

Hallway Feeds
1:30pm – 2:30pm | Lexington, KY
This family-run operation will welcome you with their southern hospitality as you learn all about what it takes to make champion equine athletes, from a nutrition perspective. Hallway has produced the feed that fuels champions like American Pharoah, Authentic, Flightline, Justify and more, and their tour provides a fascinating look into the importance of equine nutrition.

We recommend stopping by Crank & Book Craft Ice Cream in the Distillery District on your way from Hallway Feeds to Mill Ridge Farm, be sure to leave about 20 minutes for travel time between Hallway Feeds and Mill Ridge Farm!
Mill Ridge Farm
3:30pm – 5pm | Lexington, KY
Take your newly acquired appreciation of equine veterinary care and nutrition and head on over to Mill Ridge Farm! This well-rounded experience features mares + foals, yearlings and stallions at this historic nursery farm, just down the road from Keeneland. Guests will learn the ins and outs of raising young horses for a career on the racetrack and get up close and personal to some of the equine residents.

May we recommend… grabbing dinner at Harry’s in Palomar? This local favorite has it all, and does it all very well. Order casual American favorites off of the Harry’s menu, sushi off of the Aqua menu or steaks off of the Malone’s menu, all available at the Palomar location (just down the road from Mill Ridge Farm).
