Each morning in the leadup to raceday, horses will exercise over the track at Keeneland in preparation for their next race. Keeneland is open to the public for morning workouts, providing a unique opportunity to see some of the world’s best equine athletes up close. Rise and Shine, Arrive Early! Morning training takes place daily from 5:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. on the Keeneland main track. Many Breeders’ Cup contenders are already on the grounds of Keeneland Racecourse, with Breeders’ Cup workouts taking place October 22 – 31. There are two renovation breaks during the morning, from 7 a.m. – 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. – 9 a.m., when no horses will be on the track. The first 10-15 minutes after a break are often the busiest times of the morning! We recommend entering through either gate and parking near the grandstand. Head to the track apron to watch horses as they exercise in preparation for their next start. Keep an eye out for Keeneland tour guides, who often stroll the property ready to answer questions.
