FRIDAY

EAT

Start your day out strong with a stop at one of Lexington’s many local coffee shops – some of our favorites include North Lime Coffee and Donuts, The Greenery, Old School Coffee and more.

TOUR

Enjoy a tour of Mill Ridge Farm, a family-owned nursery farm that raises young Thoroughbred horses. When visiting Mill Ridge, you’ll have the chance to meet mares and young horses, along with the three stallions who call the farm home. Tours of Mill Ridge are highly interactive, and best for guests who want to get hands-on with horses and feed a few carrots along the way!

Tours of Mill Ridge Farm are offered daily at 10am – 11:30am and 12:30pm – 2pm.

EAT

Between tours, head over to Lexington’s Distillery District for a bite to eat! The Distillery District, located just outside of Downtown Lexington, is home to a variety of restaurants, including Goodfella’s Pizza, Elkhorn Tavern and more, and distilleries like Barrel House and James E. Pepper. If you’ve got room for dessert, be sure to grab an ice cream at Crank & Boom.

TOUR

After your tour of Mill Ridge Farm, head over to Hallway Feeds to get an inside look at how champions are fueled. Just like Mill Ridge Farm, Hallway Feeds is a family owned operation that is dedicated to providing top tier nutrition for equine athletes. When visiting Hallway Feeds, you’ll see firsthand how horse feed is made, and learn more about the importance of nutrition for horses of all breeds.

Tours of Hallway Feeds are offered on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays at 1:30pm – 2:30pm.

EXPLORE

Spend the evening at the Kentucky Horse Park for the famed Southern Lights holiday extravaganza! This three mile driving tour of lights is a thrill for the whole family. Once the driving portion is over, take some time to enjoy the Holiday Village, including photos with Santa and other Christmas activities.

Saturday

Eat

Grab breakfast at the Keeneland Track Kitchen, a local favorite with great meals at a great price!

Tour

Get a behind-the-scenes look at Keeneland Racecourse, a National Historic Landmark, with their Morning Works tour. You’ll have a chance to see racehorses training over the track, while learning about the history of Keeneland and its impact on Thoroughbred racing and sales worldwide. Be sure to check out the Keeneland gift shop for any last minute holiday shopping needs (or a little treat yourself moment!).

Tours of Keeneland are offered on Tuesdays and Saturdays during the winter months.

Explore

Warm up with a stop at one of Kentucky’s famed distilleries. Central Kentucky is home to dozens of distilleries that are open to visitors, where you can learn about the process of making the world’s best bourbon – and maybe even get a taste of it yourself!

The Kentucky Bourbon Trail® is your best source for all things bourbon. We recommend visiting their website to learn more about tour opportunities at Kentucky’s distilleries. As always, be sure to enjoy responsibly!
