Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation

Meet 10 retired Thoroughbred racehorses who are living out their days in peace and beauty in the beauty of the Chestnut Hall Farm in Oldham County Kentucky, just 30 minutes from downtown Louisville. Guests will be greeted at the Barn at Chestnut Hall where they will learn about the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) and the Thoroughbred Aftercare industry that cares for these majestic equine athletes when their racing careers are done

Each horse at Chestnut Hall is an Ambassador for the 425 horses cared for by the TRF and each horse has a story to tell! Chestnut Hall offers a tour and event experience that truly sets us apart from many of the larger racing and breeding farms in Kentucky. The calm, gentle nature of our retired Thoroughbreds allows us to create immersive, hands-on experiences that are truly unique to Kentucky. Rather than viewing horses from a distance, guests are invited to engage with them in meaningful ways including petting, grooming, feeding treats, and taking up-close photos. Each visit is also an opportunity to learn why aftercare matters and how important it is to provide retired racehorses with safe, purposeful lives beyond the track.
