Long Weekend – Summer 2020

A long weekend itinerary for the local or visitor, highlighting some Horse Country farms & KY Bourbon Trail distilleries. A fun few days exploring KY’s finest.

FRIDAY

KEENELAND’S YEAR ROUND TOUR 9:30 -10:30AM Visit the iconic Keeneland Paddock, Grandstand and historic grounds, while learning  of the grounds and an insider’s view of operations for racing and sales.


May we suggest..Take a scenic drive down from Keeneland to Pisgah Pike to Old Frankfort Pike, and enjoy an early lunch at Wallace Station


LANE’S END FARM STALLION TOUR  12:30-1:30PM –  Rolling hills of Midway surround this premier stud operation.

WILD TURKEY 2PM – Enjoy a tasting of America’s Native Spirit at one of the KY Bourbon Trail’s distilleries. Reservations: wildturkeybourbon.com.

 May we suggest….Head back to downtown Versailles for an evening on the block at Court Street. Enjoy outdoor seating and  food & bev  from Rolling Oven, Spotz Gelato,  Amsden Bourbon Bar and more !


SATURDAY

May we suggest…coffee & donuts from North Lime Coffee & Donuts

MILL RIDGE FARM  10:30-11:45AM  Get some carrot therapy visiting the mares, weanings & yearlings up close at this thoroughbred operation.

KY EQUINE ADOPTION CENTER  1:30-2:30PM This rescue for all horse breeds offers a hands-on and educational look at rescuing horses and preparing them for their next life.


SUNDAY

CLAIBORNE FARM 11AM12PM Meet the stallions at this historic farm, and pay respects to Secretariat at his gravesite.

May we suggest...Grab some Goodfella’s Pizza and Crank & Boom Ice Cream in the Pepper Distillery District.
