Fit for a Royal

THURSDAY

THE KENTUCKY CASTLE

Check into your room at the Kentucky Castle – yes, a literal castle – in the heart of Woodford County.   Stay in a chalet and make yourself at home, exploring the Castle’s various projects – like the cultivation of myriad gardens – including lavender, the flower of royalty!  Enjoy locally sourced food from a menu of delicious dinner options at the Castle’s on site farm-to-table restaurant.

MILL RIDGE FARM  3:30pm – 4:45pm

Visit with the mamas and babies at one of Horse Country’s nursery farms. Steeped in local and equine history, Mill Ridge is one of the farms in the Bluegrass where HRH Queen Elizabeth II has boarded her horses through the years.

FRIDAY

May we suggest…. a stop at The Amsden in downtown Versailles?

What royal itinerary would be complete without a spot of tea? Downtown Versailles’ Main Street is undergoing a good old-fashioned small town rejuvenation, with the Amsden a literal and figurative cornerstone. Enjoy some hot tea, a pastry, and all the charm this quaint town has to offer before heading down the road for more horses!!

LANE’S END FARM   12:30pm – 1:30pm

Lane’s End Farm, a prominent stud farm of more than 2300 acres in Midway, has hosted HRH Queen Elizabeth through the years and historically has  sponsored the Queen Elizabeth  II Challenge Cup (G1)  at Keeneland. Full of history and an impressive stallion roster, the tour includes living legend AP Indy and other notable racetrack rockstars.

GODOLPHIN AT JONABELL, HOME OF THE DARLEY STALLIONS 2:30pm-4pm

Godolphin is the global thoroughbred breeding and racing operation owned by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. If that isn’t regal enough, the farm is home to three Kentucky Derby winners and the tour includes a visit to the trophy room.

Note: This itinerary is a suggestion only and is based on a sample of what tours may be available. Each Horse Country tour requires that guests be ticketed. Tickets are available for purchase at www.visithorsecountry.com or by calling 859-963-1004
